About Brenda
Brenda, a Round Pond resident, was born in Maine and started painting some of her favorite family recipes from her own memorable experiences in the kitchen. Her work has inspired many requests for paintings of favorite family recipes across the country. She has been drawing and painting in different media as long as she can remember. The last several years, she has continued to study locally and concentrates her talents with watercolors. She especially enjoys painting family recipes as each one has a story.
"Throughout my life I've been interested in cooking. My favorite recipes are those with family traditions. The earliest cooking memories are those in the kitchen, smelling the wonderful, warm aromas and usually stirring the gravy while listening to my mother and other family members sharing stories. It's cooking and painting those special recipes that bring back the past so clearly; the memories of sharing love and a pinch of thyme in the kitchen with parents and grandparents."
Today most of her work is commissioned family recipes each with their own story. The most fulfilling aspect is when the painting is complete; each member of the family also gets prints. Then all can experience the many memories associated with the particular recipe. She finds that most rewarding.
